From SOFA Bylaws: ARTICLE I
MEMBERS Membership Membership shall be open to those persons who: (a) are actively engaged in forensic anthropology casework and are employed by or consulting for a medical examiner, coroner's office or related government agency at the time of application; (b) have demonstrated their ongoing contribution to the field of forensic anthropology through case analysis, academic research and/or governmental policy making; (c) have obtained a master of arts, master of science or doctor of philosophy degree in anthropology (or related field) with a focus on physical anthropology and graduate training in forensic anthropological casework; and (d) have agreed to sign the Guidelines for Professional Conduct, as such document is updated from time to time by the Membership Committee.
As of November 2011, SOFA applicants must be Associate Members, Members or Fellows
in the Physical Anthropology Section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). Qualified individuals are encouraged to apply by first contacting the SOFA secretary Secretary@sofainc.org. Application form and ethics statement can be found below. Dues are $50 annually. |
